The Metaverse Revealed
The metaverse – a term that has conjured curiosity in all realms, yet its true essence remains as elusive as a mirage. Is it among us, or are we still traversing the astral planes in search of answers?
Ray-Ban smart glasses, imbued with built-in cameras that capture moments, livestream the arcane, and, soon, channel the power of MetaAI, Facebook's nascent artificial intelligence companion.
The most bewitching feature is MetaAI, which grants these spectacles the power of "multimodality" – allowing them to comprehend and illuminate the secrets of the world they behold.
Imagine gazing upon a foreign inscription and seeing it translated before your very eyes or seeking guidance on fixing a leaky potion with step-by-step instructions.
Now, you can witness the Quest 3 headset, a marvel of mixed reality, enabling seamless transitions between the metaverse's immersive realms and the tangible world. N
o longer must you stare at mundane walls; now, your coffee table can become a mystical piano or your living room a realm akin to Halo or Roblox.
Whether you embrace the metaverse's enchantment or question its spell, one truth prevails – it dwells among us.

Gary Gensler's Mystical Ordeal 🔮
In the halls of the U.S. House Financial Services Committee, a magical gathering convened under the title "Oversight of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)."
It resembled a mystical ritual, akin to a performance review, but with a twist – instead of HR, it was a congress of sorcerers, all eyes upon one man: Gary Gensler.
In this ordeal, Gensler faced questions that were more than mere incantations. They were incantations of scrutiny and bewilderment, and the responses that followed could be likened to the unruly spells of an apprentice, novice and inexperienced wizard.
"It cannot be understated that a common theme throughout your career, sir, is relentless loyalty to the largest financial institutions at the clear expense of innovation, competition, and everyday Americans," declared Congressman Tom Emmer.
"If I purchase a tokenized Pokemon card via a blockchain, is that a security transaction?" asked Torres.
Gensler's response…. "I'd have to know more."
Torres later remarked, "Chair Gensler's answer to my questions were as incoherent as his overall approach to regulating crypto."

Argentina launches blockchain-based digital ID service
Argentina is the latest country to adopt blockchain technology for digital identity, with the capital city of Buenos Aires launching a new service in October 2023.
The service, developed in partnership with the blockchain infrastructure project QuarkID, will allow residents to access and manage their digital identity documents via a mobile wallet app.
To start, the service will support birth and marriage certificates, with proof of income, academic verification, and health data to be added in the coming months.
The QuarkID wallet uses zkSync Era, a layer-2 scaling solution for Ethereum, to provide fast and secure transactions at low cost.
Benefits of a blockchain-based digital ID
Security: Blockchain-based digital IDs are highly secure, as they are encrypted and stored on a decentralized network. This makes them virtually impossible to hack or tamper with.
Privacy: Blockchain-based digital IDs give users full control over their personal data. Users can choose which credentials to share with whom, and they can revoke access at any time.
Convenience: Blockchain-based digital IDs are more convenient to use than traditional paper-based IDs. They can be accessed from anywhere in the world, and they can be used to verify identity online and in person.
It will also be interesting to see how other countries and organizations respond to Argentina's initiative. If successful, it could lead to a wave of new blockchain-based digital ID services around the world.
