We had our 2nd community AMA session this Thursday, March 10 at 2 PM UTC on our Telegram channel. What made this session special, is that our community members got to ask questions from Emilis who’s from Locura Digital Art Studio — the creators of Wizardia’s art. The moderator of the AMA was our own Director of Partnerships Eligijus. Thanks to everyone who joined us!
If you missed the AMA session, check out the recap of how the game design is developed, what’s the source of inspiration, and what Wizardia’s in-game characters will start to look like.
💡 Q: Can you please introduce yourself to the community and what is your background?
Emilis: We are Locura — a fresh digital art studio specializing in visuals for video games, board games, and movies. Even though we are a small team, our artists have a lot of experience behind them, including AAA projects. We love to create art and are forever grateful to be doing it for a living :)
💡 Q: What got you into digital art and how can others get as good as you?
Emilis: Probably the main thing that got us into the business was video games and cartoons — we used to make our own Dragon Ball Z mangas on paper when we were kids :) Later on, it became a hobby and eventually became the main focus and aim, to be professionals in this field. The main thing is to put in work and training. I like to compare it to basketball, you can’t learn shooting or dribbling the ball without putting a lot of time into training. The same goes with art.
💡 Q: How do you get ideas for Wizardia Wizards?
Emilis: Mostly inspiration and ideas come from the world around us, you can even watch fashion tv and imagine how would this dress look in the futuristic world? What if the model would also wear some kind of mask? Or let’s say you have an idea for a wizard whose profession is mechanic, wouldn’t it be cool if he could use his tools to create some kind of gadgets to use in a fight? And then comes the idea-generating and sketching phase, where even the craziest ideas may seem like a great addition to a Wizard :)
💡 Q: What are the biggest challenges in creating art for Wizardia?
Emilis: Wizardia project is so unique in a way that Wizards may look very “normal” at first glance, but their backstories are so fascinating and require some additions to their designs, those additions tell the story about the Wizard. So probably the most challenging part is visualizing each of their stories in their design :)
💡 Q: Can you show us a sneak peek of something you are currently working on at Wizardia that the public has not seen yet?
Emilis: I can, but only for this AMA! A sneak peek at our brand new wizard — Chikara :) (Join our Telegram channel to see it yourself 🤫)
💡 Q: Does Wizardia contract game character design with professional designers outside the team, or does the team have the experience and time to do so without the need for others?
Emilis: At this time, we are the only digital art studio working on the project Wizardia, but we are looking to expand with time.
💡 Q: As an art designer you have a great mind, great ideas, great designs. What gives you inspiration while making wizard designs for Wizardia?
Emilis: As mentioned earlier, just the world around us. You can look at simple things like a motorcycle’s engine, it has some unique elements that at the second glance can be looking like a great design for a giant spaceship :)
💡 Q: What software do you use for designing the Wizards? And the NFTs
Emilis: Mostly good old Adobe Photoshop, we are more “old school” people :)
💡 Chisom: In what ways do you plan on reaching the gamers with your designs? Are there still future ideas you plan to incorporate into the Wizards and the NFTs to reach more gamers?
Emilis: I think the overall designs are relatable to gamers, and we still try to stick to game design standards when it comes to designs. And of course, we plan to make even more exciting designs that are more unique :)
💡 Ali: What are your artistically unique qualities?
Emilis: Probably incorporating real-life elements into futuristic designs, and trying to make them look “in place” :D
💡 Robert Florea: Will the game be a fully AAA game?
Emilis: We try our best from the art standpoint, but it comes down to many points of the project overall :)
💡 André Daister: Can I join your art team in the future? :D I’d love to… I’m quite good at Photoshop as well.
Emilis: Sure! Please send your portfolio to [email protected] and we will take a look! :)
💡 Diiibbb: I’m a gamer and I’ve seen a lot of game characters, so how does your design differ from other character designs? Some other games will just copy the art style of other games though 😅
Emilis: Indeed. As I mentioned, we try to incorporate different real-life elements into our designs. Of course, some designs may seem quite similar to others, but we have to remember that there are hundreds of thousands of projects and some may be pretty similar :D
Thank you all for joining in and asking excellent questions!
As always, there are little prizes for the best questions. This time 100 $USDT will be split among 5 people (20 $USDT each). The winners of the best questions will be picked in a few days and will be contacted directly by Eligijus.
See you at our next community AMA!
